Coconuts being used to produce products.

While travelling around Grand Cayman, Little Cayman and Cayman Brac, one common thing that I find is that there are lots of coconut trees all over these islands. They are cut down by landscapers or property owners and thrown away in bins and also pruned in preparation for the hurricane season.

One thing is clear, this tree with its fruit, is grossly underutilized across all three islands. It can be used to manufacture products that can provide any hardworking persons with a decent income while still providing a product that is also healthy for the body. The milk extracted from the meat will aide in the manufacturing of most of these products. The milk is also used in preparing delicious meals, drink and pastries.

What is Heritage

According to Well (2011), Heritage studies is defined as an interdisciplinary  investigation of the relationship between people and the representation, interpretation, and valuation of the past with the goal of using this information towards a practical end. Heritage place is a specific area or site, perhaps a large area such as a whole region or landscape, or a small area such as a feature or building, which is valued by people for its natural and/or cultural heritage significance (Wells 2011).  "Heritage" is constructed from values and meanings derived from social, cultural, and personal experience, while (Wells 2011).
